For visitors and locals alike, Brewster, Massachusetts, is one of Cape Cod’s most charming destinations. The story of the lovely location that surrounds Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club begins in 1656.

Brewster was first established as a northwestern parish of Harwich. The town then separated from Harwich as the wealthier northern parish in 1693. Named for Elder William Brewster - a storied religious leader of the Plymouth Country Pilgrims - the town was built around America’s first water-powered grist and woolen mill, located at Stony Brook.

Throughout the 1700s and 1800s, wealthy sea captains in Brewster built grand mansions and homes, many of which can still be seen throughout the town today. Brewster's sea captains made livelihoods transporting many imports and exports, including coal, coffee, mahogany, rum, sugar, and fish.

Nowadays, many visitors travel to Brewster to see the pleasant beaches, clam beds, tide pools, and more. Historic attractions - like the Crosby Mansion and the Higgins Farm Windmill - can still be explored alongside scenic New England shores for a valuable look at Brewster’s past.
