The Cape Cod National Seashore was officially created by President John F. Kennedy on August 7th, 1961. It comprises over 43,000 scenic acres of protected beaches, dunes, and woodlands, spanning from Chatham to Provincetown. This designated seashore park is open to the public of Cape Cod, allowing visitors to relax on soft sands, hike through the White Cedar Swamp, and even spot harbor seals between the Atlantic surf!

One of the most interesting sites located within the Cape Cod National Seashore is the Dune Shacks of Peaked Hill Bars Historic District. Located in Provincetown and Truro, these historic dune shacks were built in the 1920s as beachside homes for American writers and artists. We recommend a stroll to this fascinating destination for a picture-perfect piece of Cape Cod history.
