Take Your Book Club on a Cape Cod Getaway

Good books, great friends, and a whole weekend to talk about both.

Book club usually means a few hours around someone’s kitchen table. A bottle of wine gets opened, snacks appear, everyone catches up, and somewhere along the way, someone remembers you’re supposed to be talking about the book.

Why not make a weekend of it?

At The Charm on Main, our adults-only sister property just down the road in Brewster, your next book club can become a Cape Cod escape filled with slow mornings, cozy reading sessions, good food, long conversations, and plenty of time with the people you never get to see quite enough.

Maybe you’re reading Painting the Light by Sally Cabot Gunning and want a Cape Cod setting to accompany the story. Maybe your group has another title on the nightstand. Or maybe the book is simply your excuse to finally get everyone away together.

Whatever is on the reading list, bring it to Brewster.

Go Big or Get Cozy

One of the best parts of a book club getaway at The Charm? You can make it fit your group.

Take over the entire 20-room inn and turn book club into a full-fledged getaway. For a smaller gathering, make yourselves at home in the Manner House. Or bring your closest circle together in the five-room Boarder's Wing for an extra-cozy escape.

Go big or get cozy. Either way, the weekend is yours.

With everyone staying together, there’s no rushing home after the last page is discussed. Pour another glass, pull up another chair, and let the conversation keep going.

Your Book Club Weekend Itinerary

There’s no need to over-plan this one. Leave plenty of room for reading, relaxing, and deciding what sounds good in the moment.

Friday: Check In & Catch Up

Arrive in Brewster, settle into The Charm, and let the weekend begin.

Unpack the books, pour something delicious, break out the snacks, and catch up with everyone before attempting any serious literary discussion.

Tonight’s agenda: settle in, sip, snack, laugh. The book can wait.

Saturday: Read, Roam & Discuss

Start slowly with coffee and a few quiet chapters before heading out to enjoy Cape Cod on one of our complimentary bicycles offered at both The Charm and Ocean Edge.

Stop at our Salt + Soul Retreat Studio to take a warm yoga or mat Pilates class with our world-class wellness instructors.

Make time for a little exploring the 429-acres of Ocean Edge, stop into the Brewster Bookstore (we might be biased, but we think this is hands-down the best book shop on the Cape) then return to your home base to recharge before the main event: book club.

Gather the group in one of our cozy gathering spaces, pour the wine, bring out something to nibble on, and finally answer the important questions. Favorite character? Favorite chapter? That ending?!

And, naturally, expect the conversation to wander completely off topic.

That’s half the fun.

Sunday: Brunch & One More Chapter

Ease into your final morning together. Linger over brunch, revisit last night’s most hotly debated opinions, and start tossing around suggestions for the next book.

Before everyone heads home, there’s only one question left:

When are we doing this again?

More Than a Book Club

The best book clubs have never been just about finishing the book.

They’re about friendship. Having a reason to get together. Hearing everyone’s wildly different take on the same chapter. Sharing recommendations. Ordering another round. Laughing about something that has absolutely nothing to do with what you read.

Turning book club into a weekend at The Charm simply gives you more time for all of it.

And with Ocean Edge nearby, your Cape Cod weekend can extend beyond the pages with even more ways to enjoy your time together.

Come for the Book. Stay for the Stories.

So send the group text. Choose the book. Pick the weekend.

Whether you take over all 20 rooms, gather in the Manner House, or keep your circle close in the five-room Boarder's Wing, The Charm offers a memorable home base for turning your next meeting into something much more fun.

Reading. Sipping. Munching. Chatting. Laughing.

And yes, eventually discussing the book.

Go big or get cozy. Your next chapter starts on Cape Cod.
