Where Winter Dines Best: Fireside Evenings in the Roscommon Room
Some meals are about what’s on the plate. Others are about how they make you feel.
Tucked inside Ocean Edge’s historic heart, the Roscommon Room is made for winter evenings — the kind where time slows, conversation lingers, and the glow of the fire does half the work.
With not one but two working fireplaces, rich wood details, and a setting steeped in Cape Cod history and family tradition, fireside dining here feels less like going out and more like being welcomed in.
A Room With a Story (and a Fire to Match)
The Roscommon Room sits within the iconic Nickerson Mansion — a landmark that has anchored Ocean Edge since 1912 — and carries a deeply personal connection to the resort’s ownership.
Inspired by County Roscommon, Ireland, the ancestral home of our own matriarch Mary Merrigan Corcoran —whose portrait hangs behind the bar — the room reflects a turn-of-the-century warmth that feels both intentional and lived-in. Gleaming woodwork, expansive windows, and soft firelight create a space that honors heritage while inviting guests to slow down and settle in.
In the winter months, the Roscommon Room expands into the Nickerson’s original breakfast room where, a century ago, the family would gather for their morning meals. Today, its own working fireplace continues the tradition — offering a second fireside setting where winter mornings once began and cozy evenings now unfold.
Together, the rooms form a rare kind of dining experience: historic, intimate, and unmistakably Ocean Edge.

Comforting, Elevated, and Perfect for the Season
The Roscommon Room’s menu is designed for fireside dining — refined without being fussy, indulgent without trying too hard.
Expect seasonal New England flavors, expertly prepared steaks and seafood, comforting classics with a polished edge, and a thoughtfully curated wine list that pairs beautifully with a winter night. It’s the kind of menu that invites you to linger — perhaps ordering dessert simply because the fire is still glowing.
One standout from our winter menu is our Butter-poached Maine lobster served with butternut squash, chive oil, and a subtle, vanilla-kissed lobster cream. Rich, comforting, and thoughtfully balanced with just a touch of vanilla. Whether you’re settling in after a brisk beach walk or planning a slow, celebratory dinner, this is food that feels right for the moment.
After dinner, enjoy a beverage in a cozy armchair by the grand fireplace in our La Salette Lounge, or head downstairs to Bayzo's Pub for a perfectly-poured pint (and live music on Friday and Saturday evenings!)
A Winter Escape Worth Lingering Over
Fireside dining in the Roscommon Room isn’t just a meal — it’s part of what makes winter at Ocean Edge feel special. Historic. Unrepeatable. Entirely its own.
Come for dinner. Stay for the glow. And let winter do what it does best — slow things down.
